Percussion Explosion is the 1978 album by Herman Kelly & Life, a Miami outfit led by drummer and percussionist Herman Kelly, released on Alston Records, part of the TK Records family.
The break
“Dance to the Drummer’s Beat” has a long, crisp drum break that crossed from disco floors to hip hop turntables, and it became one of the most-used breaks in rap.
