The Fix is the seventh solo album by Houston’s Scarface, released by Def Jam South, the label he ran, in August 2002.

The story

The Geto Boys veteran brought in Jay-Z and Beanie Sigel on “Guess Who’s Back,” and “On My Block” became one of his signature songs. The Source gave it five mics.

Sound and production

Kanye West, Mike Dean, the Neptunes and others produced, pairing soulful samples and live instruments with Scarface’s heavy, reflective storytelling.

Legacy

It’s widely regarded as one of Scarface’s best records and a high point for Southern rap in the early 2000s.
