My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy is the fifth album by Kanye West, released by Roc-A-Fella and Def Jam in November 2010.

The story

After a public fall from grace, Kanye retreated to Hawaii with a crowd of collaborators. He previewed the era with G.O.O.D. Fridays, giving away a new song every week. The album won the Grammy for Best Rap Album.

Sound and production

Maximalist and orchestral, it samples King Crimson on “Power” and features Nicki Minaj’s star-making verse on “Monster,” alongside “Runaway” and “All of the Lights.”

Legacy

It’s regularly named one of the greatest albums of the 21st century.
