Tha Hall of Game is the third album by E-40, released by Sick Wid It and Jive on October 29, 1996.
The story
It reached No. 4 on the Billboard 200 and No. 2 on the R&B chart, and went gold. The single “Things’ll Never Change” backed with “Rapper’s Ball” reached No. 19 on the R&B singles chart. 2Pac, Too $hort and K-Ci are among the guests, and the “Rapper’s Ball” video has cameos from 2Pac, Ice-T and Mack 10.
Sound and production
A deep bench of Bay producers, Studio Ton, Mike Mosley, Ant Banks, Rick Rock, Tone Capone and others, gave the album polished West Coast funk.
Legacy
It’s E-40’s commercial peak of the 90s and a snapshot of the Bay at the height of its national moment.
