Life After Death is the debut album by Detroit’s Natas, Esham, Mastamind and TNT, released by Reel Life Productions in 1992.

The story

The group’s extreme, dark lyrics drew controversy when press coverage linked the album to the death of a teenage fan. AllMusic’s Jason Birchmeier described its extremity as “clichéd satire.”

Sound and production

Esham produced its 20 tracks, sampling Prince, N.W.A and the Beastie Boys.

Legacy

It launched Natas and helped define Detroit acid rap. Not to be confused with The Notorious B.I.G.’s 1997 album of the same name.
