Native Instruments Traktor is one of the original DJ programs. First released in 2000, it grew from a two-deck mixer into Traktor Pro, with four decks, beat sync and the Traktor Scratch digital vinyl system, Serato’s main rival.
History
Traktor Pro arrived in 2008, Pro 3 in 2018 and Pro 4 in 2024, alongside a line of Kontrol controllers. Parent company Native Instruments entered administration in 2026, with an acquisition by inMusic announced in May.
The hip hop connection
In 2013, turntablists DJ QBert and DJ Craze released a limited Traktor Scratch control vinyl, with QBert’s samples and Craze’s beats on one side and timecode on the other.
