Me Against the World is 2Pac’s third album, released on March 14, 1995, by Out da Gutta and Interscope.
The story
Shakur finished it while awaiting trial and was in prison when it reached No. 1, making him the first artist to top the Billboard 200 while serving a sentence. It held the top spot for four weeks.
Sound and production
Producers included Easy Mo Bee, Johnny “J,” Soulshock & Karlin, Tony Pizarro, Shock G, and the Bay Area team of Mike Mosley and Sam Bostic. The singles were “Dear Mama,” “So Many Tears” and “Temptations.”
Legacy
Certified triple platinum, it is often ranked as his most personal album, and “Dear Mama” is among his best-known songs.
