The Sanctum Sanctorum

The Sanctum Sanctorum is a 2012 album by Detroit rapper Seven the General, issued as a digital release on Lil Danny Publishing LLC. Discogs lists 16 tracks and a heavy roster of Detroit guests.

The story

The album works as a showcase for the city as much as for Seven himself. Guests include Esham, Marv Won, Big Herk, K’Jon, Stretch Money, Al Nuke, B-Down The Boss and Attilla Ming, and the closing track, “On My Detroit Shit,” brings eight of them together. In 2018 Rox-TV singled the project out for its focus on lesser-known Detroit artists. “I’m From 7 Mile” got an official video, and a remix, “West Side Capital (I’m From 7 Mile Remix)” with B Down The Boss and Bizarre, came out as an iTunes exclusive single on Legendz Entertainment in January 2012.

Sound and production

Discogs files the album under hardcore hip hop. J Oneal produced several tracks, including “I’m From 7 Mile,” “City Look Good” and “Get It Done.” Ak & Square produced “Up Here,” and Nick Speed produced “I Get It In” featuring K’Jon, the song that earlier drew attention from WJLB.

Legacy

The album set up Seven’s longer partnership with Nick Speed, who went on to produce all of A.R.T. the DIA project in 2015.
