Adrenaline Rush

“Adrenaline Rush” is a studio album by Chicago rapper Twista, released on June 24, 1997, through Creator’s Way, Big Beat and Atlantic Records. It was his second nationally released album, following a 1994 project that was issued only in Chicago.

The story

After his Loud Records debut stalled and his second album “Resurrection” stayed local, Twista regrouped with the Chicago label Creator’s Way, the same camp behind Do or Die, whose 1996 hit “Po Pimp” featured him. Recorded between 1995 and 1997, “Adrenaline Rush” reached a national audience through Big Beat and Atlantic. The singles were “Emotions,” featuring Johnny P, and “Get It Wet,” featuring Ms Kane.

Sound and production

Every track was produced by The Legendary Traxster, a contrast with the many producers on his debut. Johnny P and Ms Kane appear as featured vocalists on the two singles.

Legacy

The album peaked at No. 77 on the Billboard 200 and No. 13 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, his first chart entry. “Get It Wet” reached No. 96 on the Hot 100 and “Emotions” reached No. 11 on the rap chart. Despite little radio play outside the Midwest, the RIAA certified the album platinum in 2019, and Twista later revisited the title with “Adrenaline Rush 2007.”
