All Eyez on Me is the fourth album by 2Pac, released by Death Row and Interscope in February 1996. It was his first album after Suge Knight posted his bail and signed him to Death Row in October 1995.
The story
2Pac recorded at a furious pace, and Death Row released the result as a double album. “California Love” with Dr. Dre and Roger Troutman and “How Do U Want It” were huge hits. It was the last album released in his lifetime; he was shot in Las Vegas in September 1996.
Sound and production
Johnny “J,” Daz Dillinger, DJ Quik and Dr. Dre were among the producers, giving the album a polished West Coast sound built for the radio and the car.
Legacy
It is one of the best-selling rap albums ever and the defining document of the Death Row era.
