The story
By the mid-2000s Lazarus had built his name on Detroit radio, winning freestyle battles on 95.5 and 105.9 and opening local shows for G-Unit and D12. In interviews he has said the album came together at the Mix Factory studio in Detroit with engineer and producer I.V. Duncan, who was engineering Royce’s records at the same time. That overlap is how the Royce feature happened.
Reception
The album earned Lazarus three nominations at the 2007 Detroit Hip Hop Awards: Lyricist of the Year, Song of the Year and Artist of the Year. The “Let the Game Know” video, directed by Anthony Garth and shot on 35mm film, went on to pass a million views on YouTube.
Legacy
