Don’t Stop ‘Til We Major is the debut album by JT the Bigga Figga, the Fillmore, San Francisco rapper and entrepreneur born Joseph Thompson, first released on cassette in September 1992.

The story

JT had started Get Low Recordz as a basement operation in 1991, and this tape was the first step in turning it into one of the Bay’s most important independent labels. “The S.F.C.,” an eight-plus-minute posse cut with RBL Posse and others, is a roll call of early 90s San Francisco rap. The album was reissued on Get Low in 1995 and again in later years.

Sound and production

JT produced with “G-Man” Stan Keith, Rob, Gigolo G and Gregg, building raw, bass-heavy funk around his hustler’s-eye rhymes on tracks like “The Bigga Figga” and “Nuttin But a Hustla.”

Legacy

The title became JT’s motto, and the independent blueprint it represents shaped a generation of Bay Area artists.
