Guilty As Charged is Big Herk’s first solo album, released on CD in 2003 through his own Got’Cha Back Entertainment.
The story
Herk made his name with Rock Bottom, whose 1997 album got Detroit radio play. He left the group in 2003, the year this came out. “I’m a Boss” also appears as a closing remix.
Sound and production
Fourteen tracks with guests J-Nutty, KD, Screwface, Duke Tha Mainevent, T. Dot, Neco Redd, Bareda and Miz Korona. Titles like “M.O.T.O.W.N.” and “Murda Mitten” speak straight to Detroit and Michigan.
Legacy
It established Herk as a solo artist and began a run of releases on his own label, from Still Guilty (2004) to Overdose (2013).
