Home Invasion is the fifth album by Ice-T, released by Rhyme $yndicate and Priority Records on March 23, 1993.

The story

After the “Cop Killer” controversy around his band Body Count, Time Warner refused to release the album with its cover art by Dave Halili. Ice-T left Sire and Warner, and Priority put it out months later. It reached No. 14 on the Billboard 200 and No. 15 in the UK, and went gold in both countries.

Sound and production

DJ Aladdin and SLEJ Da Ruff Edge produced, with Ice-T as executive producer. Singles included “I Ain’t New Ta This,” “That’s How I’m Livin’” and “Gotta Lotta Love.”

Legacy

It stands as a landmark in rap’s fight with corporate censorship in the early 1990s.
