Judgement Day is a double album by Esham, released by Reel Life Productions on April 9, 1992, in two volumes, “Day” and “Night.”
The story
His brother and label partner James Smith came up with the double-album idea after Prince’s Love Symbol album. AllMusic’s Jason Birchmeier called Vol. 1 “his most inspired work of the ’90s.” A deluxe box set followed in 2006.
Sound and production
Esham produced, using more rock samples than on his debut.
Legacy
It’s a cornerstone of acid rap and one of Detroit’s most influential underground records.
