The story

It reached the R&B albums chart, and “Hard Times” reached No. 8 on the Bubbling Under R&B/Hip-Hop chart. Guests include C-Bo and Marvaless on “The Funk Is On” and JT the Bigga Figga on “4 tha Bizzness.”

Sound and production

AWOL’s in-house producers, D-Wiz, DJ Daryl and Troy-B among them, gave it the dark, bass-heavy Sacramento sound.

Legacy

“Mobbin’ in tha 916” remains a Sacramento anthem.
