No Prisoners is the 1989 debut EP by I.M.P., the San Francisco group led by Cougnut, issued as a four-track 12-inch on Maxcacious Records.
The story
Cougnut formed I.M.P. in 1989, and No Prisoners was among its first releases, with Cougnut and C-Fresh credited as the rappers. The I.M.P. Dogs cassette followed on Sucka Free Records in 1990.
Sound and production
Al Eaton produced and arranged the EP with I.M.P. Side A has “Scanlous” and “Bass Kick”; side B has “For You Dumb Muther’s” and “I’m Rollin’.”
Legacy
“I’m Rollin’” and “Scandalous” are singled out among Cougnut’s early records, and the EP opened a catalog that led to Back in the Days (1993) and Ill Mannered Playas.
