24 Deep is the debut EP by Brotha Lynch Hung, released by Sacramento’s Black Market Records. Sources date it to 1993, though some give 1992.

The story

Named for his 24th Street Garden Blocc neighborhood, it reached No. 91 on the R&B albums chart, the first Black Market release to chart.

Sound and production

Lynch produced his own dark, slow beats, the beginning of the style he called “rip gut.”

Legacy

It set the stage for Season of da Siccness and put Sacramento on the rap map.
