28 G’s w/o the Bag is the debut album by Sacramento trio Triple Beam, Shotgun, Pook and Chop, released by Black Market Records in March 1999.

The story

After building a following at local shows and car shows, the group signed to Cedric Singleton’s Black Market Records, and the album became their regional breakthrough.

Sound and production

It carries the heavy, slow Black Market sound that ran from X-Raided and Brotha Lynch Hung to the next generation of Sacramento rap.

Legacy

The title is spelled several ways on different pressings, and original copies are prized by Sacramento collectors.
