South City to Vacaville

Antonio Mariano Valdez grew up all over Northern California, mainly in South San Francisco, Daly City, Fairfield and Vacaville. As Lil Toro he came out of the Norteño rap scene, the Chicano street rap of Northern California. He named Tupac, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony and Woodie among his influences.

The music

His catalog includes the single “Money Triple” (2017) and the album Los Sueños No Descansan (2024). He was a regular guest on NorCal records, trading verses with Conspiracy and Big Rome on “All Funk, No Love” and appearing alongside Big Oso Loc, among others. “Brown Is a Gift” became the song people most associate with him.

He also built a following on YouTube, where his videos mixed music with talk about the streets. In his last years he took down some of his gang-related content and said he wanted to move toward peace and faith: “I got a daughter and sons to live for. I don’t wanna promote harm with anybody.”

Rest in peace

Lil Toro died on December 15, 2025, in Concord, California. He was 38. The single “Modesto To Vacaville” came out in June 2026.
