The Click

A Vallejo family group
The Click was a Vallejo, California, group made up of siblings E-40 (Earl Stevens), D-Shot (Danell Stevens) and Suga-T (Tenina Stevens), along with their cousin B-Legit (Brandt Jones). They started out in 1986 as Most Valuable Players, released the EP “The Kings Men” in 1988 as M.V.P., and sold their early recordings themselves, often from the back of a car.
Building Sick Wid' It
E-40 founded Sick Wid' It Records in 1989, and the group's EP “Let's Side,” co-produced by Mike Mosley and Al Eaton, came out on the label in 1990. Their debut album, “Down and Dirty,” followed on May 7, 1992, and reached number 87 on Billboard's R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. In 1994, E-40's “Captain Save a Hoe,” featuring The Click, became a breakthrough, reaching number 94 on the Hot 100 and number 12 on Hot Rap Songs, and Jive Records later reissued it on 12-inch.
“Game Related”
The group's second album, “Game Related,” was released on November 7, 1995, through Sick Wid' It and Jive. With production from Studio Ton, Mike Mosley, Kevin Gardner, Tone Capone and Roger Troutman, it peaked at number 21 on the Billboard 200 and number 3 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, and the RIAA certified it Gold in 1998. Its lead single, “Hurricane,” produced by Studio Ton, became the group's biggest hit, reaching number 63 on the Hot 100 and number 4 on Hot Rap Singles; “Scandalous” followed in 1996.
Final album and reunion
The third and final studio album, “Money & Muscle,” arrived on September 25, 2001, reaching number 99 on the Billboard 200 and number 23 on the R&B/Hip-Hop chart, and “The Best of The Click” followed in 2003. All four members reunited only once, on “Blame It” from E-40 and B-Legit's 2018 album “Connected and Respected.”
